Stradbally Hall was selected as the venue for the Seminar as it has been using a woodchip boiler for heating and a hydroelectric generator, for over a decade. The seminar will be introduced by its owner, our chairman, Thomas Cosby, and Alicia Clements of Birr Castle, HHI’s sustainable energy expert.

As we want our members to learn about the feasibility of sustainable energies of all kinds for their individual house, we have brought together five highly experienced sector professionals:

Will McCarthy of isoenergy
UK-based isoenergy specialises in the planning, detailed design, supply and installation of high-quality sustainable energy systems in large country estates.

Robert Quirke of Eco Hydro
Eco Hydro’s small-hydro technology is specifically engineered for use with low head, low speed and low pressure, making it ideal for Ireland's rivers and canals.

Colm Byrne of Glas Energy
Colm’s company Glas Energy has been providing solar hot water, electricity generation and storage solutions for over 15 years, and HDG Bavaria biomass boilers since 2005, including at Stradbally Hall and Ballykilcavan House.
Tony Traill of Element Consultants
Tony will discuss the specific issue of moisture management (thermal bridging) and how the new technologies must respect the materials used to construct historic buildings.

John Burgess of Arup
Arup provides energy management advisory for renewable energy solutions and effective systems operations. John will discuss the practical findings of a project he has worked on for the OPW.

There will be plenty of time to consult with the presenters individually and also to chat with fellow members about workable solutions.

Looking forward to seeing you all on the day!
